Every Fall in our church, the women get together for a morning of crafting together. Since I am in charge of the activities, my job was to plan the crafts and activity (with the help of my committee).
I started off with creating an invitation. Getting the word out and making each person feel invited is SUPER important. Here is an editable PowerPoint version of the invitation: Super Saturday
Here are the crafts we chose to do (click on each name for a link giving directions on how to do each one):
- Tie fleece blankets (we caught an awesome sale at JoAnns, and bought ten 1.5 yd pieces of cute fleece for $50!). These were donated to a local children’s hospital. Here is some of the cute fabric I found:
- Hair bows (cost $1 each)
- Bow ties (cost $1 each)
- Photo blocks with this gorgeous picture (someone else designed it and we bought the rights to print it for a group)
For around $7, I got a long 12 foot board at Lowe’s (they did the cuts for free!), which yielded 19 boards. I had the 5×7 photos printed at Sam’s Club for roughly 50 cents each. And we used leftover stain, sand paper, and modge podge that I already owned. So for less than a dollar, we provided this complimentary craft to the ladies to do (we did require sign-up beforehand so I could get the correct number of supplies). **A tip– use modge podge sparingly, as using large gobs of it will cause the picture to bubble when it dries.
Many women came and just worked on the service crafts and the “Names of Christ” photo. We were able to get all the blankets finished to donate!
We also served lunch– potato soup, salad, rolls, cookies, and water.
